The resort of Bansko, lies at the foot of the Vihrin, the highest mountain in the Pirin range. The town retains its traditional spirit whilst developing into a fine ski resort, providing excellent skiing for beginners and intermediates in particular and great value for money. A number of hotels offer great facilities for apres-ski relaxation and plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs, offering a vibrant nightlife.

Bansko is a great place for families. The resort offers a ski and non-ski kindergarten located by the bottom station of the Gondola lift. Children from 3-7 yrs inclusive are welcome at the club, where they are given expert supervision.

Skiers of all abilities are well catered for as Bansko has over 65 kilometres of marked ski runs, which are easily accessed by the newly installed and impressive Gondola lift. As the day draws to a close, Après-ski is centred around the local “Mehanas,” friendly taverna type restaurants serving traditional Bulgarian cuisine and drinks, often with roaring log fires and live entertainment.

Set amidst the majestic forest-clad Rila Mountains, once a hunting ground for Bulgarian Kings, Borovets is now internationally renowned. There are lots of bars and cafes, and these along with the many clubs make après-ski a real attraction. Quite rightly, skiing is its prime concern and Borovets is justly popular with all grades of skiers, with a setting that’s near perfect.

Pamporovo has a unique claim to fame – this bright, modern ski resort is the sunniest mountain resort in Europe. Set amongst magnificent pine forests, Pamporovo offers good quality accommodation, an excellent English speaking ski school and numerous wide tree lined runs, ideal for beginners and intermediates.

There has been significant investment in the hotels, restaurants and facilities and the ski area itself. Beginners will progress quickly to the more challenging runs, whilst intermediates will appreciate the updated, efficient lift system. The mountain town of Chepelare has its own selection of bars and restaurants, offering an alternative experience to Pamporovo.
