America is a huge country with so much to see and do that it would take a lifetime of holidays to see it all. Where to visit and what to see while on holiday in the USA depends on what you would like to do while you are on vacation.

Thanks to Hollywood, we have all had our first glimpse of the United States of America, from Mickey Mouse in Disneyland to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee to an American Indian Reservation in New Mexico, we all would like to visit somewhere.

A great starting place would have to be the infamous New York. Take a yellow cab and see your first glimpse of the unforgettable Manhattan Skyline. Shop to your hearts content in Sak's, Bloomingdales or Macys. Visit Ground Zero, the Empire State Building or take part in a Gospel Mass in Harlem.

Maybe a holiday out of the ordinary would make you happy. Try Fly Fishing with your kids or maybe White Water Rafting in Montana; Take a leisurely inner tube trip, floating down the Comal, Guadalupe, San Marcos, or Frio rivers in Texas or visit Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.

Have fun in the French Quarter during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Lousiana soaking up the Creole culture. Play Golf in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, listen to some Blues in Jackson, Mississippi, or learn to Hula in Honolulu, Hawaii.

America may be home to fast food, but culinary tours of the USA can make a fabulous holiday. Try the Clam Chowder Festival in Massachusetts, the Lobster Festival in Maine, the National Shrimp Festival in Alabama or a luau in Hawaii. Why not try reindeer sausage in Alaska, 'Biscuits & Gravy' in Oklahoma or Cajun Cooking in Louisiana.

Californian wines are world renown and what better place to taste the grape but in the Napa Valley. Many cocktails originated in American Hotels like the Long Island Iced Tea in the Oak Beach Inn, New York; Shirley Temple at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel at Waikīkī in Honolulu; the Flaming Dr. Pepper originated at the Ptarmigan Club in Bryan, Texas and a Tequilla Sunrise originally served at the Arizona Biltmore.
